Volunteer Spotlights

Vaarun Ramanathan

UC Berkeley Freshman, SSF 2020 President

Being the founder of the Shooting Stars Entrepreneurship Division has allowed me to share my passion for entrepreneurship with teens around the country, while also empowering other passionate high school students to be leaders in their own communities, in addition to impacting globally.

Sam Obe

IoT Engineer, Cognizant
SSF Volunteer since 2019

I currently work as an IoT Engineer at Cognizant. In my free time, I volunteer my time to the Shooting Stars Foundation by teaching and mentoring with the Flutter SDK. I love volunteering because it’s a great way to give back to the next generation of scientists and engineers. In addition, it provides me a great opportunity to solidify the concepts, that I teach, for myself. I love volunteering with SSF and look forward to many more bootcamps and mentoring sessions.

Prasanthi Tallapaneni

Oracle, Volunteer from 2017

My volunteer work with SSF is concentrated on fundraising and liaising with donors. I also check in with students and help mentor them as they progress in their studies. The most unique part of volunteering with SSF is the visibility of the direct impact that is being made. It is an incredible experience to have sponsored, or helped others sponsor scholars and see them graduate. The magnitude of impact is generational and so unique to Shooting Stars.
