EXPECTED GRADUATION: 2020

Hannah was born in Eldoret, Kenya, and she went to school there from class one to class five. Due to tribal clashes, she and her family moved to a different town, where Hannah went one year without school. During that time, the family lived in an IDP (internally displaced person) camp, in a small tent. After that year, Hannah attended school for the next two years, walking about an hour and a half back and forth from the IDP camp to her school. Hannah stayed in school to finish her homework and then walked back in the dark.

Hannah’s difficult lifestyle made her miss three years of schooling.  But due to her determination, she went back to school. She was very embarrassed to be the oldest one in a school of kids all smaller than her. That was only one of the issues that caused her to drop school again. Hannah went to Nairobi and worked for three months. Hannah feels that if she had had a stable life and continuous schooling, she might have went a lot farther.

Currently Hannah is studying to be a school teacher. She says this is because she loves children, and she wants to help other going through the situation she had. Hannah is determined to study hard and become the best person she can be.
