Govindaraman lives in Paramakudi, a town in Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his education in Tamil, and earned an exemplary rank in his secondary school, scoring a whopping 195.5/200. With this score, Govindaraman received an award from the Chief Minister himself. This stellar score earned Govindaraman a spot in an engineering school in 2018. Currently, Govindaraman studies in college in English, and is proficient enough to write exams in English.
Govindaraman’s father is a weaver, weaving mainly silk sarees from raw materials obtained from agents. Govindaraman’s father’s job is to use the materials, weave, and return back the materials. So far, their income has barely been enough, and it has been difficult providing for 5 family members. Govindaraman has an older sister and younger brother. Her older sister studied for a B.S. in a government arts college, but now helps out at home. His brother is in 6th grade.
Since a very young age, Govindaraman excelled academically. He initially wanted to practice medicine, but due to not being able to secure a seat in medical school, he opted for computer engineering instead. Currently, Govindaraman is interested in creating mobile apps, and even uses apps he created using Python and Java, languages he learned in college.
Despite earning a stipend for his excellent marks, Govindaraman donated this money back to the SEEDS foundation to support other students’ education. This indicates his extremely caring and empathetic character, as well as his passion for helping his community. Govindaraman’s goal is to stabilize his life and help other struggling students like him.
