Faith Kangusur Apakor

Form 4 (completed Kenyan Secondary Level)

My name is Faith Kangusur Apakor, I first came to Nakuru in 2006, when I was only 6 years old. My parents divorced when I was young, and I do not know a lot about them, especially my father. My mother is selling alcohol in the Pokot tribe; in fact, this is one of the most {common} jobs for the women there. However, the salary is not enough to cover the basic needs of a big family. We are five children; four girls and one boy, all of them are married with kids, so for me having the opportunity to have a degree would represent an amazing way to be my family proud of me.  My goal is to work in the Tourism and Attraction field, I love to meet people from different countries, for example, at the IHF center I met many international volunteers and I created a strong connection with them. My dream is to work at the Masai Mara, I have never been there, and I hope that one day I will walk in the middle of this amazing Pak Reserve! However, I would also like to have a big family with a loving, caring and honest man.

Education is important not only because allows you to get a good job, but also because it makes you a better person in society. In fact, this is what makes me study very hard every day: improving myself! I really hope to get this University sponsorship because I want to achieve my dream to work at the Masai Mara.
