BhagavathiPriya M

ENGINEERING - K.S.K College of Engineering and Technology - TAMIL NADU, INDIA

M. Bhagavathipriya studies in Darasuram, a town in Tamil Nadu, India. She bikes to college, and returns home to assist her mother with daily chores every day.  But her road to college has not been an easy one.

With her father working as a lorry driver, and her mother tending to the home, Bhagavathipriya’s family was faced with insurmountable costs after her brother met with a debilitating accident. The family faced a 56,000 RS college tuition, with an annual income of 48,000 RS.

Undeterred by her financial situation, Bhagavathipriya studied diligently, and received prestigious grades that earned her a scholarship at the K.S.K College of Engineering and Technology. And she also found time to give back to her own community, and collected books for a local orphanage.

But Bhagavathipriya’s father was injured, and was unable to work or support his family. Thankfully, through the contribution of the Shooting Stars foundation, Bhagavathipriya was able to continue her studies in college, and is now preparing to take the GATE, or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. She hopes to become a lecturer, and share knowledge with those around her.
